A
project may pass through several revisions before manufacturing
begins; in many projects, four or five revisions can be reached
before the production release.

Each change has to
be reflected in the correct drawings, production instructions and
component information. A technically correct part made against the
wrong revision is still the wrong part.

That is why revision
management is more than document control. It is the discipline of
making sure that the version approved by the project is the version
that is engineered, released to production, identified, packed and
delivered.

Engineering accuracy comes before manufacturing
accuracy

Production control
cannot compensate for a wrong engineering basis.

Site conditions,
product requirements and the applicable technical and static analysis
have to be established correctly before the production release. If
the engineering basis is wrong, manufacturing the component perfectly
only reproduces the wrong solution at scale.

For an EPC, the
useful question is therefore not only whether the supplier can
manufacture consistently. It is whether the engineering inputs,
design revision and production release remain under control together.

Revision control has to survive the factory

Once production
starts, the current approved revision has to remain unambiguous
across cutting, forming, punching, fabrication, quality control and
component identification.

This becomes
particularly important when several components connect to one
another. A revision to one profile, bracket or connection detail can
affect the interface with the parts around it. The production system
has to prevent an old and new configuration from being mixed inside
the same project.

The objective is
simple: the component that reaches the site should correspond to the
current approved engineering package, not merely to a part number
that happens to look similar.

Why does packing and delivery sequence matter?

Project execution
continues after the component leaves the production line.

A solar site
receives large quantities of similar-looking steel components and
hardware. Identification, grouping and packaging affect how quickly
the installation team can understand what belongs where.

Delivery sequence
matters as well. Where practical, material should reach the site in
an order that supports the installation sequence. Sending dependent
components before the items needed to install them can create
waiting, sorting, additional handling and unnecessary storage.

Well-controlled
packing does not replace correct engineering or production. It makes
sure that the work already done in engineering and manufacturing
survives the final step to the site.

How does this affect project economics?

Mounting structures
are often compared using tonnes, €/Wp and delivery terms. Those
numbers matter, but they do not capture every execution cost.

Field sorting,
rework, delayed assembly, incorrect revisions and
installation-sequence problems consume labour and programme even when
the factory price itself has not changed.

The commercial
question is therefore broader than the unit price of steel. It is
whether the engineering, production and delivery process reduces or
creates work for the project team on site.

What should an EPC verify before production
release?

Is the current approved drawing
revision unambiguous for every critical component and interface?

Have the project-specific
technical and static analyses been completed on the correct site and
product basis?

Is there a controlled method
for carrying revisions into production instructions and component
identification?

Are connected parts being
checked as an assembled interface, not only as individual
components?

Can the supplier prevent
superseded and current revisions from being mixed during production
and delivery?

How will components and
packages be identified on site?

Can packing and dispatch be
aligned, where practical, with the planned installation sequence?

What engineering, production
and delivery documentation will accompany the system?

From engineering revision to site installation

Kıraç Metal
supplies project-specific solar mounting structures from Eskişehir,
Türkiye, with a fixed-solar reference base spanning 21 countries.

At project scale,
serial manufacturing is expected. The differentiating execution
problem is maintaining control as the project moves from analysis and
engineering through revision, production, identification, packing and
delivery.

The objective is not
simply to manufacture the same component repeatedly. It is to make
sure the structure installed on site is the structure that was
actually approved.

How revision management, static analysis, production control, component identification, packing and installation sequence affect solar mounting-structure project execution.

[50

post-10308","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-content
["GET
